Daughter of God, the one who knows and loves us more than we can imagine

My Journey into Medical School

Have waited a year and applied to most the Ontario Universities, 2 Caribbean Schools, and 2 Ireland Schools. I got an interview to Ottawa University and McGill University and thought I did the interviews to the best of my ability. I know I want to use the skills of medicine to glorify God.

Coming into medical school- in Newcastle, UK
It is Orientation week and I am excited. This is finally real! We got orientation lectures from SGU and Northumbria faculty and talk about what we are going to study. I keep making new plans such as doing a MD/MPH degree to be the best doctor I can in International Medicine; I want to do clinical shadowing; I want to specialize in women's health, sports med and tropical medicine. I know there will be a lot of work. We need to preview, go to class, review, do questions and review after 1 week, including group study in there. That is our school mantra. The prof says at least 2 hours/ night on studying for each subject and we have 3: histology, biochem, anatomy; we have class 9-5; so without breaks we sleep at 11. To get maximum effort we need 7 hours of sleep to get the best results from REM sleep and memory consolidation, exercise, healthy eating habits and reflective time with God. My schedule could be strictly 6:30-7:10 spend time with God; review 7:30-8:30; class 9-5; review 5:30-11:30pm. Cook for tomorrow dinner and sleep at 12:30pm.
I am nervous about the schedule but God strengthen me! Remind me why I do this and give me the strength God.

Finding our identity- Christ is all because of what He did on the cross, we should all be in hell, but Jesus paid for it on the cross and now we are Holy and dearly loved. God chose us as people. There are no hierarchies- Christian lawyers, doctors, teachers because we don't find identity on what we do but who we come from- dearly loved from God. LOVED FROM GOD. I don't want to be defined by what I do but who I am. Knowing whose I am will allow me to do my work in a humble and peaceful heart for I know whose I am- daughter of God and bride of the king.
